Pink enchanted mesa

Enchanted mesa by Westknits has been on my ravelry knitting list for years and I recently finally finished it !! Because red is one of my favourite colour and that pink is a touch of red mixed with white, my enchanted mesa is a sweet pinkish redish goodness in fingering weight yarns .

I would like to apologize for the heavy use of filters in some of my pictures. Why have I done that? well I am blaming neon peach for unbalancing the other colours ;)

My main colour is lobster pot from Nice and Knit and it is a beautiful ochre red. The rest of the yarns are bits and bobs that I had from my stash:  two colours from missclickclack (fuchsia and darker red/brown) and two colours from the famous hedgehogfibers (Ferrum and poison) and finely the one and only neon peach from Madelinetosh (very hard to photograph its brightness). and the sweet pink is from skein yarn.

Starting from the top then down. the arm hole is left on a waist yarn for later DPN knitting

I used for the body  4 mm needles and for the sleeves 3.5 mm needles. The reason I chose to have my sleeves a bit snug compared to the body is the give something to hold the jersey a bit into place.

The other thing I did to the jersey that made a massive difference to the dynamic of the fabric and therefore the finish object was Blocking. I don’t have blocking wires so I used pins which is not the best as it pull the fabric into mini spicks. but these spicks disappear when you wear the jersey. I am so glad I blocked my enchanted mesa as it has also change the feel of the beast when wearing it.

Hard blocking. It almost looks scary …

The funny shape of the  enchanted mesa. It is not an usual jersey but as Stephen West It works for me

When I tried it on before blocking, the asymmetry of the arm holes/sleeves did make moving around a bit strange. I felt restrained. After blocking the feeling significantly changed, it almost felt like I was wearing another jersey !!!

If you decide to knit enchanted mesa, then my advise to you is block your beast ! However, you need to be aware that if you use fingering weight yarn and block hard your jersey will be somewhat see through. In order to avoid this “problem” just use a bigger weight yarn and soft block it (to smooth the fabric).

I hope that I inspired you to knit your own enchanted mesa it will for sure make you proud, happy and enchanted !

D’avance merci. O’.
